A Journey In Curriculum Design

It began with a class in graduate school. We learned to turn academic content into performances in order to enhance student learning. Then, when I had my own children, I realized that Shakespeare was accessible to my little ones. I wrote and directed my first adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2016. Now, almost ten years later, I have completed my first prototype. It’s hard to not like it. I’m terribly biased but I think it is pretty, whimsical and executable for amateur lovers of both Literature and Theater. It is not sophisticated but it offers a real process for creating a small drama production while having meaningful conversations about the story with students and with lots of fun handicrafts, costume and music ideas. It’s is still definitely a first edition, if you will, but it’s ready for other teachers and homeschool parents, public or private or homeschool groups to use.
